A 1652 treaty opens up the story of the first “Baltimoreans”

Once a week, Emma Bilski meets with a group of college students at Gilman Hall and tries to help them understand who once walked on that very patch of North Baltimore land hundreds of years ago. Long before there was a “Maryland” – or the “Johns Hopkins University” they now attend – there were indigenous people here, including the Susquehannock.
