Branstad signs gambling bill, including Internet poker study
Gov. Terry Branstad today signed a gambling bill that could set the stage for a full debate next year on legalizing Internet poker within the state’s borders. The legislation approved by the Iowa Legislature asks for an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission study on regulating Internet poker, with a delivery date of Dec. 1. The measure would also revise Iowa’s casino referendum laws, allow advance deposit wagering on horse races, and revise purses for horse racing.
