COLUMN: Hastily drawn conclusions lead to long prejudice

Last week I made some headway into mitigating one of my prejudices. I have never consciously been racist, sexist, chauvinistic or xenophobic -- except in one area. I've never had much respect for Indians. (I know the politically correct term is "Native American," but we bigots do not worry about such matters.)
