Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort "Doubles Down" with Addition of New Hotel Tower and Convention Center

Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort has begun construction on its latest expansion. The $150 million project includes a 403-room hotel tower, expansion of the pool venue, new lobby lounge, a convention and entertainment center, and a new indoor/outdoor Mexican restaurant, as well as additional parking.

“The Rincon Band is making another huge investment in the economic growth of North County San Diego,” stated Bo Mazzetti, Chairman of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians.  “The expansion will bring a much needed boost to the local economy, producing an estimated 650 jobs during construction and 125 new hospitality jobs.”

The Harrah’s Rincon expansion is projected to take approximately 17 months to complete and expected to bring an estimated $261 million in new revenue to San Diego County, including the $150 million the Rincon Band is investing in construction. The expansion will also add $11.5 million in new local and state tax revenues.

Preliminary site work has already begun with phase-one construction to launch on November 1. The current pool garden, regarded as one of the best in San Diego County, will double in size and include a “Lazy River” feature, as well as a swim-up bar. A new indoor/outdoor Mexican restaurant is part of this construction phase, which is scheduled for completion third quarter of 2013.

The new convention and entertainment center consists of 23,000 square feet and will accommodate 2,200 concert guests and 1,000 for a banquet/dinner event. It will also feature an outdoor public space for weddings and parties, and a new banquet bar. The center is scheduled for completion fourth quarter of 2013.

The new hotel tower of 402 rooms will bring the resort’s total room count to 1,065, with completion expected second quarter 2014.

“Over the past 10 years, Harrah’s Rincon has been noted for giving our guests an unparalleled gaming entertainment experience with a first-class resort, superior amenities and truly excellent customer service,” stated Janet Beronio, Regional President and General Manager. “Our expansion plans show our dedication to improving upon that experience as we provide the hotel, convention and entertainment space, as well as the special amenities that our guests have requested and that will encourage continued visitation by gaming and leisure guestsalike.”

This is the fourth expansion for the resort since opening 10 years ago. Harrah’s Rincon currently has 662 hotel rooms, an award-winning pool garden, a full-service spa, seven restaurants (including Fiore, six-time winner of the Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence), the combination indoor-entertainment/banquet facility The Pavilion, and the outdoor Open Sky Theater.
