Lottery chief defends deal that saved IGT $25M

Racing to launch legal sports betting last year, Rhode Island Lottery Director Gerald Aubin faced a predicament. The General Assembly’s top lawmakers insisted Rhode Island get at least half of any profit from this emerging market, but the state needed to satisfy two long-time private partners — IGT and Twin River — seeking a cut of the action.
