Native American tribes take part in ceremonial flag swap for Alabama Bicentennial

Representatives of nine Native American tribes who have lived on the land that became Alabama took part in a flag exchange with Gov. Kay Ivey at the capitol today as part of the state’s bicentennial celebration. The governor said it was important to recognize the people that called the land that is now Alabama home before statehood in 1819.
