Is Online Gaming Legislation Going Forward Without Tribes?

Victor Rocha is owner and editor of Pechanga.net. Rocha has been involved in the politics of Indian gaming since 1998 and has earned numerous awards for his work, including the National Indian Gaming Association's 2002 Outstanding Contribution to Indian Country, VCAT's 2001 Catalyst Award, Global Gaming Business Magazine's "40 Under 40," Raving's 2012 Casino Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award, & the AGA's Lifetime Achievment for Gaming Marketing.

(Blog) Victor Rocha: Is Online Gaming Legislation Going Forward Without Tribes?

Sen. Reid & Sen. Kyle wrote a letter to the Justice Department last week seeking an explanation for the Black Friday indicments. My sources tell me they're also working closely with the American Gaming Association on language for online gaming bill that is accectable to Sen. Kyl. He's always been a fierce opponent of gaming so it's surprising to see him all buddy/buddy with the AGA. Big things are afoot, folks. Maybe he bought into that Rapture in October thing? Oh yeah, he's retiring. Old Senators gotta eat too, I guess.

Where are the tribes in the debate? My sources also tell me the tribes are still on the sidelines. No courtesy phone calls. No nothing. [Yeah, I know it's a double negative. I'm street] The next few weeks should be interesting. Stay tuned. It's getting good.

BTW Tony Batt wrote a great article today for GamblingCompliance.Com about Senators Harry Reid and Jon Kyl's attempt to turn the screws on Nevada's online competition. The political game gets more bizzare.
