Tribal offices, afterschool programs closed

Administrative offices for the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) are closed and employees are working remotely, Cheryl Andrews-Maltais, chair of the tribal council, told The Times. Andrews-Maltais said the offices closed at the end of the day Monday, March 16, amid growing concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. The offices will be closed through March 30 when the situation will be reevaluated, she said.
