The tale writer-director Andrew Okpeaha MacLean spins in “On the Ice” may seem familiar on the surface: After Qalli (Josiah Patkotak) accidentally kills a mutual friend of his and longtime pal Aivaaq (Frank Qutuq Irelan) during a morning seal hunt, both characters are forced to deal with the increasingly dire consequences of their decision to cover up the crime.
